In wilderness Lies Hope

In wilderness lies the hope of the world.

~John Muir

This past weekend I had been getting over a bout of depression and did what I know best to do, go outside and walk. Rarely do I walk with people or get others who want to come, but I got lucky this weekend and got my niece to come with me.

It was so fun, seriously... it was what my heart needed. Seeing her at 11-years-old running, dancing, singing, jumping around, exploring... it was hilarious. Even at 38, I do not have half of the energy of this child, but she made me once again look at nature in a different way.

Not to just embrace and enjoy it's beauty and stillness, but to also keep the excitement alive. Find joy in the dirt hill to the side, see the pleasure in trying to jump off of the tree stump, skip a rock.. it was refreshing. I had forgotten even at that age how you can create worlds and forts and caverns in your mind and how much pleasure one can derive from it.

Thank you thank you sweet beautiful girl, you reminded me of someone I lost a while ago.
