Celebrate Good Times

Celebration of Holidays

At this point I won’t go into Christmas, I could write several posts about it, let me just say I am a big fan, and I might even work for Santa Claus in my own way.

I love holidays... I have slowly over the years gotten the perfect amount of decor for each of them. Some of the holiday parties are large and some pretty casual. I throw 2 really big dinners a year for holidays and casual get-togethers for the others.

I throw a large Valentine’s Day Dinner, I have always loved just celebrating my love for others, I don’t get depressed on that day. I don’t believe you have to have a partner on that day, I just feel it’s a reminder to me to let everyone know how much I love and care. I have been throwing a big dinner for 13 years, first one started with my sister Sarah helping me out and we made steak and homemade fettuccine Alfredo. It was small, we had some chocolates and new socks for those at home, but it is one of my favorite memories.

My second large party for the year is coming up, it is my Annual Harvest Dinner,

In the small town I grew up in, our little church congregation would throw a fall dinner, the Harvest Dinner and we would always eat the harvest that the farmers had had. In my memory I lived for those moments, those nights of fun with friends, and as an adult I tried to restart the tradition. I have only done this one for roughly 5 years. When my dad passed away, I knew that one of the small and meaningful ways I could keep our family together was having these type of traditions back in place. I have thrown this ever since, and it is generally lots of good comfort food and fall decor. This years is more Halloween oriented with Fall. I always plan it when family can get together and it just so happened this time around it is close to Halloween, and why not have games and decor for the kids to enjoy.

St. Patrick's Day is  a chill holiday for me, I throw a party, decorate in green, but we have pizza generally and shamrock cookies and of course eat out of our pot of gold.

Easter, I am obsessed with Easter Candy, so even if I am not hosting the dinner and another sibling is, I always am prone to throw the hunt. I just love seeing the kids looking hard for candy, this year they did it a rain storm, and the men in my family were amazing hiding those eggs during a rain storm.

Memorial Day is already full of traditions around town, but I have been known to throw a BBQ. I love going to the cemeteries and laying flowers and love the the things the city I live in does.

4th of July is always fun, I love BBQ food, parades and water, it all goes so well.

But Thanksgiving is by far one of my favorites (link to post about thanksgiving), it has great food, a great message and a guaranteed day off for me most of the time.

So many fun memories to make.
