I thought it would be so much easier instead of dumping a ton of photos on Social Media and spending 2 hours tagging (It's the drawback of photo taking, the hours of tagging people). So here is a summary of my Christmas Season of 2020. It was slightly different than past years but was still fantastic, probably one of my best.
It wasn't about the trappings and trimmings although there were some, it was really about making great memories with my loved ones. Here is my December:
The first weekend of the year was fun, some family went to Lumaze in Salt Lake and lots of fun and laughs were had in the quiet moments.
I saw so many Christmas Lights and still have so many more I want to see next year... here is a link to the post about my holiday lights guide.
For the first time in a very long time I got dressed up all fancy and at my brother Matt's house we dined in style and danced and played and saw lights. It was such a fun memory, one of my favorite moments.
We remembered my sweet niece who passed away in 2020 celebrating her heavenly birthday:
I ate way too many cookies, I love cookies more than any other dessert and tried to control my intake, but lost count the closer we were getting to Christmas.
Went to see, "The Christmas River," in Menan Idaho. It was really cool, really fun, and bitter cold, but it was fun to see with the kiddos.
Had one of the best Antone Clark Days ever! The day was chaotic and so was the evening, but after everything settled, my sister, niece, and nephew enjoyed my dad's favorite drink a rootbeer float with A & W from the TAP in a frosted mug. The floats were good, but my favorite part was my niece and nephew asking questions about my dad for at least an hour and wanting to hear stories, it was fun and made me feel really connected to him. My sister and I after the kiddos went to bed watched my dad's favorite version of, " A Christmas Carol," the version with George C. Scott.
If you are unsure about what Antone Clark Day is here is the video of it that took place before my dad passed when the city of Layton named the day after him, he passed less than a month later.
Our family danced the dance and had our annual Christmas Eve Eve Ball, a tradition that has taken place in our family for almost 17 years, it is a great way to be silly and also get out some holiday energy and it can be hilarious too.
There was lots of playing toys, books read, movies watched, snuggles and games. For the first time honestly, in a super long time I fully dialed out and felt relaxed, being off of the phone, social and my computer, it felt amazing. I love the little moments with family, my nieces and nephews are all growing up so incredibly fast I feel I need to soak them up and their time.. I love them so much, beyond words.
Christmas Morning was fun, it was so wonderful to see the magic of the morning in the kid's eyes, see their excitement and revel in their joy. I must have been awfully good this year because Santa gave me his helper, Santa Lisha a gift that surprised me more than anything... video is below. Note we thought it was from my sister and brother-in-law because it had sharks on the paper, it was not from them, but it wasn't until afterward we realized that.
Still in shock by the kindness and love from others... below are one or two more cute moments, overall it was an amazing season!
There were so many wonderful memories and other photos I took, but I am working on the balance of what to share versus keeping some of the joy personal. 2021 will be about balance and success, I have loved the down time and am geared up to take on this new year.
May 2021 be a wonderful year for you!
