It's Cookie Time!!

In this vast world there are cake people, pie people even donut people.. me I am a cookie person, I love love love cookies. Cookies tend to be one of my favorite desserts and I love nothing more than a good chocolate chip cookie sometimes.

Now I have seen over the years that there is a very wide divide between people and their recipes, some love butter, some love shortening, some love semi-sweet chips, some love milk chocolate and there are tons of shapes and looks to the cookies.

In my house, I go for butter-flavored Crisco, it is a miracle ingredient. I tend to love shortening because no matter how many times I have made these, they always turn out perfectly. The butter flavored gives it that wonderful flavor you want, but the shortening gives it a firmness..

Below is my favorite recipe, I got it from a roommate in college and it has been a constant in life.

Chocolate Chip Cookies

½ cup white sugar ¼ cup brown sugar ½ cup shortening 1 egg 1 tsp. Vanilla 1 cup flour ½ tsp baking soda ¾ tsp salt

1 1/2 cups chocolate chips

Walnuts are optional. Bake at 350, for 8-10 minutes. I always love a cold glass of milk when I have mine.

Does anyone else love the song from Troop Beverly Hills about cookies, honestly anytime I say the word the song goes into my head?
